Feedly Update Adds New Visuals And Speed Improvements

Feedly WidgetFeedly for Android was updated today, improving design elements and adding support for the Samsung Gear. The RSS reader has seen a few updates recently, establishing itself as a suitable replacement for Google Reader, picking up over 500,000 users back in March.

In the latest update, the Feedly team reports a 300% faster start time, improved scrolling, search in my feedly (for pro users), and enhanced feed search. Facebook SDK integration was added in this release, along with new fonts and design, while auto-refresh on restart was removed. There is also a new “Discover section”, populated with trending stories.

Although, Feedly notes a few issues with updating to the new version: “Some of the optimizations we performed for Android 4.1 and 4.3 seem to cause some issues on Android 2.x and 4.0. The dev team is looking this. We aim to have a fix out by Monday.”
