First Ice Cream Sandwich ROM for Nexus S 4G now Available

We all have seen the work that the developers have been doing around the clock to bring some of the icy goodness to our devices. Of course it is still all highly based on the SDK and has offered up some pretty challenging issues to solve. The true Ice Cream Sandwich ROMs are still a ways off in the distance and will have to come when Google drops the source for it later next month, we hope. That sure as heck doesn’t mean that we all don’t want to get our hands on some of it now though.

I may be wrong, but this is the first ICS-ish ROM that I have seen go live and available for the public. The ROM is available for the Samsung Nexus S 4G for Sprint. There are a few issues that might detour you from giving this a whirl though. Your 4G service is not functioning at the moment and the front facing camera is still under construction, so no Facelock ability just yet.Wi-Fi apparently connects, but won’t pull an IP and actually work. There are other various issues as well. Check out the short video of it in action –

Seems to run fairly smooth and looks pretty darn good. It is still very much a work in progress and many elements still need some tweaking and the little cleaning up.

Head over to the ROM at AndroidCentral for full instructions and the downloads needed to get some ICS love way a head of schedule. It is sure to irritate the crap out of your friends.
