First look at ViewSonic’s new 22-inch Android Smart Display

Well, it seems companies like ViewSonic and ASUS want to make things bigger. Bigger is better, right? Who knows, but it sure is a heck of a lot of fun that is for sure. Just a little bit ago we showed you the new Transformer AiO from ASUS. That was a 18.4-inch dual-booting all-in-one PC that detached into an Android 4.0 tablet. Pretty amazing stuff. Not to be out done by the big boys, ViewSonic also got a chance to finally share its 22-inch Android SmartDisplay. Yes, that was twenty two inches. Jealous much?

The Smart Display is running a dual-core TI-OMAP processor, 1GB of RAM Android 4.0 all on a 22-inch display at a resolution of 1920×1080. The lucky guys that are currently at Computex have had some time to check it out and are saying that it is extremely respnsive and the processor is handling the screen size and reslution well. You can see this second hand in the video below provided by Engadget.

The display has a couple of USB ports and an HDMI out, why you would need to connect it to something bigger is beyond us. The rep pitches it as a great product for home, business and enterprise use, which leads us to believe that they will go one sale to the genera public at some point and time. It would also make a great addition ins schools and for presentations on the go. Pricing is mentioned as starting at $479 and seems like a seal really. I know I wouldn’t mind having one sitting next to my bed on the nightstand for games and movie watching. If and or when they do become available, I think I might just have to pick one up for the heck of it.

How would you feel about having a 22-inch Android behemoth hanging around your house? Are you more inclined to look at picking one of these up or the ASUS Transformer AiO?
