FLO TV Announces FLO Developer’s Challenge Commencing on July 1st


FLO TV has announced its first Developer’s Challenge commencing on July 1st.  This challenge is designed to encourage the creation of new Android and Brew-based datacast applications that fully leverage the power of FLO TV’s dedicated multicast network.

FLO TV is calling on Android and Brew developers in search of the next great app for the nation’s only dedicated, fully scalable mobile TV network

The competition is open to developers interested in building innovative datacast applications for the FLO TV network. Sample category applications include sports, news, games, social networking, entertainment, lifestyle and media. Submissions will be evaluated by a panel of judges comprised of FLO TV and industry experts. FLO TV plans to hold the competition annually.

What’s in it for you? $25K in cash prizes will be awarded to the first, second and third place winners, along with the prospect of commercial agreements to include the winning application(s) in current or future FLO TV products, including the FLO TV Personal Television.

FLO TV will host an informational session for developers interested in learning more about the FLO Developer Challenge at Qualcomm’s UplinqT 2010 developer event in San Diego, CA. The session will be held at 4pm on July 1 at the Manchester Grand Hyatt, Room Randall E.

Key dates are as follows:

  • 7/1 – FLO Developer Challenge Opens
  • 7/31 – Concept submissions due
  • 8/13 – Finalists notified
  • 10/1 – Finalists submissions due
  • 10/15 – Winners announced
