Our good friends at Tmonews have posted yet another screenshot of an internal email. This time the internal email details an Over The Air (OTA) update for the HTC G2 which will unlock the wifi calling feature on the HTC G2. In a press release issued late Monday afternoon T-Mobile reported that they now have 200 million “pops” covered by their 4G service. They also announced the release of the MyTouch 4G today along with a new Dell Inspirion 4G netbook.
The official T-Mobile press release also outlined their new wifi-tethering add on. Beginning today T-Mobile customers can add a wifi-tethering or wifi-sharing plan to their $30 unlimited data plan for just $14.99. Although this screen shot clearly says that T-Mobile does not support “Wifi Tethering” it is from earlier in the day, before the press release was released. Based on that fact alone, it’s pretty safe to say that the G2 update will also unlock the wifi tethering option found standard in Froyo.
The update is expected to start rolling out sometime today and be completed by November 8th. Have you seen the update yet? Let us know if you have both wifi calling and wifi tethering.
