[Game] [Mini Review] HueBrix – A new mind boggling puzzle game that will put your brain into Overdrive

I don’t know what it is about me and puzzle games lately. Maybe I am feeling the effects of working from home and spending most of my spare time hanging out with my kids. I love them to death, but a 2-year-old isn’t always that stimulating to mind. So when one of my favorite named gaming company’s, Noodlecake Studios, sent me an email to let me know that HueBrix was just launched, I jumped on it.

HuBrix is is brilliant puzzle game created by Yellow Monkey Studios development team. The the help of Noodlecake, they have just launched the game to the Play Store.

It is kind of hard to put the game play into words. If I had to compare it to other titles I would say it is a mix or tetris, boxxle and snake. Even that combination doesn’t really add up to HueBrix. So let’s lay it down for you in a few images first then try to offer up a manageable explanation.

Looking at those images is almost enough to make your head spin. So let’s go over what you see. Obviously you have colors and numbers on a grid. The numbers correspond to the number of squares you have to travel on the grid. Navigation is handled by touching and holding the colored square and moving in the direction you want to go. The object is to take and make the corresponding number zero. I hope that makes a little sense. As odd and stupid as it might sound, it isn’t easy or simple by any means. As you progress through the levels you will have to compete with blocks, arrows, X marks tunnels that take you to the other side of the screen and even color dots that you have to take the associated color over.

Each level has a timer that runs with a level name and time at the bottom right. The time at the bottom right tells you how quick you need to solve the puzzle for a gold metal and changes to silver and bronze once you pass that time. You offered up 10 hints to help you out on any given level or puzzle. you can’t earn more, but you can go to the store in the app and buy more if you want. You can get 19 hints for $0.99 or 99 hints for $2.99. The links take you to the Play Store for purchase.

The game features over 400 mind-boggling levels to complete. Each are set up in an ever increasing difficulty setting. You start off with the ‘Starter’ levels then move to Easy I, Easy II .. up to Easy V. Then you have Medium I -VII, Hard I – V and Insane I-III. Let me tell you now, Hard and Insane are ridiculous. You get a gold metal if you solve many of them under 9 minutes 40 seconds. You will play them quite a few times to get them figured out.

Check out this silent, but effect video of the game play. It is 11 minutes long, so you don’t have to watch the whole thing.

Pretty col right. It gets better. This game is available for Android in the Play Store, iOS in the iTunes appstore and you can even play it on your PC at HueBrix.com

HueBrix for Android has two Play Store versions available. The free version which overs up a handful of levels for you to try it out ahead of time. The full version of the game will only set you back a $1.00 and is well worth it for over 400 levels of addictive mind-boggling entertainment. This little game easily gets a 4 star rating from us. It is a must have for inexpensive entertainment and will help drive you insane while bringing a little insanity back into your life. Feel free to grab either version via the handy little QR code below. Just click or scan it and you are off to the Play Store.
