Many of you might remember, or currently be suffering, from memory restraints on the Galaxy S4. It was a pretty huge topic that swept across the web. The 16GB variant actually only offered users 9.15GB of usable internal storage. While that might not be that big of an issue for your music and your photos, it is a huge issue when you start installing apps that rather huge. Many of the Gameloft games for instance. Seems Samsung has been listening to that particular complaint, along with many others, and are pushing out a new software update to solve some of them with the first wave hitting in Germany.
The current update re-adds the ability for users to move apps to SD. Which of course lets you free up much-needed internal storage by moving large app files to your removable sd card instead. Ultimately this means you can install more apps and games to your device. The remainder of the list is pretty fantastic as well, take a look below.
Improvements and fixes in the new Software Update:
-New Camera firmware
-Smearing issue has been fixed (Purple effect while scrolling)
-Smart Pause Toggle
-Move Apps to SD Card
-HDR Video (Can record HDR video)
-Semi-transparent status bar
-New Icons in Settings
-Secure boot status (About Phone)
-Increase legibility (Display) (New feature)
Those of you in Germany though, have at it. It is currently available via OTA and Samsung Kies. It weighs in at 365.67 MB’s, so make sure you have a good charge and Wi-Fi available to pick it up. Let us know if you get it and what you think once it is installed.
