The stars are aligning and it appears quite likely that Google will be announcing its new Nexus smartphones, one from LG and one from Huawei, at an event in San Francisco on September 29th. As has been the case before, the announcement of the device doesn’t necessarily mean that you’ll be able to put your money where your mouth is immediately after, so the question remains: when will LG Nexus and Huawei Nexus pre-orders go live? According to TalkAndroid’s sources, that day is October 13th, or about two weeks after the rumoured announcement event. For reference, TalkAndroid has also provided some examples from previous Nexus releases to demonstrate why this is quite normal:
- Nexus One: December 12, 2009 (confirmed); January 5, 2010 (released)
- Nexus S: December 6, 2010 (announced); December 16, 2010 (released)
- Galaxy Nexus: October 19, 2011 (announced); November 17, 2011 (released)
- Nexus 4: October 29, 2012 (announced); November 13, 2012 (released)
- Nexus 5: October 31, 2013 (announced, pre-ordering started)
- Nexus 6: October 15, 2014 (announced); October 29, 2014 (pre-ordering started)
If nothing else, that seems to make a lot of sense, though we’ll always take rumours surrounding Nexus devices with a grain of salt. Even so, be sure to mark September 29th and October 13th on your calendars, just in case.
