Gingerbread Firmware Leaked For Galaxy S i9000

Once again the XDA Forums make breaking news. This was all started by a post on a Polish Android forum, by user goofoos, about Gingerbread Firmware, which was then confirmed by Lorbas on XDA. This build “XWJV1” is a european/asian variant of Android 2.3.2 Gingerbread that some of us have come to love, which now gives the eager i9000 devs a complete release to rip through, and the ability to unleash some spiffy new ROMs for the community to enjoy.

ro.build.version.release=2.3.2

What does this mean for the US Galaxy S owners? Could mean that Samsung is trying to catch up on releases (don’t count on it). While this is just an speculation one things is known for sure, you will get a piece of this release. A lot of the current ROMs for the US Galaxy S models are based off i9000 ROMs, so it’s just a matter of time before everyone has their share. Be patient, devs will deliver long before Samsung, and the results will be far more desirable.

A download link, and more information can be found in the XDA thread.

[While we support development, we do not take responsibility for anything that happens to your device upon flashing software. If the your device gets bricked, your dog eats it, or it self-destructs, we’re throwing our hands up. Not in celebration of course, but if that last thing happens, get it on video. It would make a nice post. Have fun. =)]
