In by far one of the blurriest images to date, the image above is supposed to be the next firmware release that is rumored to come with a user interface overhaul and as you can see a new status bar and icons are in the works. While rumors previously suggested that Gingerbread would be released before the end of 2010, Phandroid’s tipster hints that it could be pushed back to early 2011.
Some of the highlighted features of Gingerbread include:
- Video chat similar to Gtalk’s desktop version
- Redesigned icons
- Slate/Grey notification bar (similar to the Galaxy S lineup)
- Android Green color hints everywhere
- Apps to feel built in to the OS rather than just add-ons
- Youtube overhaul, could feature “Lean Back†support
- Google Voice calls over wi-fi and data
According to Phandroid’s tipster, Gingerbread is still in the works so what you see above could very well be changed or modified by the time the next treat arrives. Hopefully, now that this has hit the blogosphere, we’ll see some more less blurry images of the this highly anticipated update.
