Gmail for Android Updated

Google is on a roll these days.  It seems impossible to keep up with all the news that they are throwing our way.  Here’s the newest published update.  Gmail.

Priority Inbox:

Gmail added Priority Inbox a few months back and they are improving it for the mobile experience with this update.  When you go into the menu you now have the option of choosing if a message is important or not.  You can do this either from within the message or by clicking the check box in the main inbox window.  Your Priority Inbox mail is now always visible from your inbox.  You can also set up notifications for just your Priority Inbox messages.  Personally I think that will make Priority Inbox much more valuable now.  This way when Simon or Allen of AndroidStory send me a message I know to ignore it (I mean check it, Freudian slip).

Composing Email:

Google has made composing emails much easier, and arguably sexier (judging by the screen shots above) by offering the ability to choose how you are going to reply from within the compose setting.  You can still manually choose your method before composing your reply or you can do it while you are in the compose mail settings, as illustrated above.  Also added is the ability to choose which account you would like to send from.  as can be seen below.

The new Gmail is available for systems running Android 2.2 (Froyo) and above in the following countries: Argentina, Austria, Australia, Belgium, Bulgaria, Brazil, Canada, Switzerland, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Spain, Finland, France, Great Britain, Greece, Hong Kong, Croatia, Hungary, Ireland, Israel, India, Italy, Japan, South Korea, Kazakhstan, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Latvia, Mexico, Netherlands, Norway, New Zealand, Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, Russia, Sweden, Singapore, Slovenia, Slovak Republic, Thailand, Taiwan, United States, South Africa.  You can grab it from the Android Market or you can scan the barcode below.
