A week ago we reported that the Nexus 4 was getting a sweet $100 price drop, dropping the price of the 8GB and 16GB versions to $249 and $299 respectively. It almost sounded too good to be true, presumably prompting a sale of the LG Google phone en masse. So en masse, it seems, that the 8GB version of the Nexus 4 is now out of stock on the Play Store and as The Verge has discovered from Google themselves, the 8GB version will be staying ‘out of stock’.
This of course only applies to the U.S. Play Store; here in Australia we still have the 8GB Nexus 4 in stock, and presumably other parts of the world will have dwindling numbers as well. The Verge goes on to report that the price drop served as a kind of clearance sale for the 8GB phone, and if we read into that a little, a clearance sale for what? A Nexus 4 refresh, or a Nexus 5 perhaps?
For now though, if you missed picking up the $249 phone, you’ll either have to look elsewhere, or cough up an extra $50 for the 16GB version.
