Google adds subway alerts to Google Maps

Google has just updated the transit information for Google Maps, and is now showing alerts for the subway in New York, which is incredibly useful for people who use the subway everyday when commuting to work or the way back home.

If you search for transit directions or select any subway station, Google Maps will show you an alert if there’s any kind of disruption. This feature is available both for the desktop version and the Android app, so if you’re one of the millions of people using the subway everyday, this is good news for you.

Google is constantly adding new cities and features globally so let’s hope that public transit starts to pick up around the globe a bit faster since it’s one of the best tools available out there. For now, if you live in New York, enjoy this improvement that can save you from a big headache.
