Google and Samsung have jointly announced this morning that the highly anticipated unveiling of the new Google flagship Nexus device, expected to be running Ice Cream Sandwich, scheduled to take place Tuesday, October 11 at CTIA, will be rescheduled. The following statement was issued:
Samsung and Google decide to postpone the new product announcement at CTIA Fall. We agree that it is just not the right time to announce a new product. New date and venue will be shortly announced.
A YouTube live broadcast countdown page / placeholder hosted by the “androiddevelopers” channel, entitled “Android ICS Launch” was circulated on the web yesterday, and has since been taken down.
The new Nexus device has been rumored to carry a late November availability, and it is believed that at this time, that date is not impacted.
The tone of the statement seems to imply that external forces / events are influencing this decision. Could recent developments and respect to industry icons be factors?
Developments as they become available.
