Google+ hits new milestones, 400M upgraded and 100M active Monthly

There was some double news to come out of Google today. Well, there was probably more than that, but two go hand in hand. Good acquired Nik Software, which is responsible for Snapseed and is part of the jazzy goodness found in iOS instagram. That is just one such offering that Nik Software develops. While the purchase is great for Google and future photo sharing and manipulation offerings, it was a small Google Plus posting from Vic Gundotra welcoming them to Google that was of a little more interest to us.

Google Plus has just hit a milestone for the service. Currently over 400 million people have upgraded to Google Plus. That is a pretty huge number. The next number might surprise you though, Google is now reporting 100 million active users of Google Plus, either via the web or the mobile application. We were a bit surprised that only 1/4 of people who have snagged Google Plus are actually active. We would have thought a little closer to half. Still, good news for us, Google and all you plusers out there. If you have friends that have a G+ account, encourage them to start using it and lets build that number up a little more.
