Google Map updates with added Google Offers and indoor walking Directions

Have you ever been walking through Best Buy and been lost? Me either. I would say more like sidetracked for the afternoon. For those of us that hit up HUGE convention centers and are visiting football field and bigger businesses, we can use all the help we can get to get around. The latest Google Maps update that landed today offers just that. Of course not all locales and buildings are available and it certainly won’t hep you find booth #3476 at the LVCC. It is more designed for large building with constants, like bathroom locations, front desks, and offices that don’t change often.  It is a pretty cool feature assuming your GPS and service works in said building.

The second part of the update adds in nearby Google Offers. Ya know, Googles way of helping you save money with specials from local businesses and restaurants and such. If you are out and about and looking to save some cash, this is a great way to do it before you find out a 2 for 1 drink special was going on next door.

Finally, they also added in 360 degree panorama of restaurants and stores. For those that have already participated in the project of course.

On to the negatives though. It seems a lot of people have  been one star rating the latest update. Stating GPS issues and it requesting Wi-Fi to find your location. Some have reported the app crashing after 5 minutes and the navigation beta part is taking people down wrong streets and dead ends. We read a few other reported issues from users that just updated their maps today as well. We caution you on updating if you rely heavily on the service, be prepared to uninstall the update or make a back up if you are rooted a head of time. Google is no slouch when it comes to fixing issues. If these issues are wide-spread and not just device specific then we expect a new update to hit in the next few days.

If you wanna go a head with the update check you ‘My Apps’ section in the Play Store, who knows maybe you have other apps waiting to be updated too.
