The Motorola Nexus 6 is now official, $649 starting with pre-orders later this month

Motorola Nexus 6

Christmas for Android fans is here. The Google Nexus 6 has officially been announced today and probably more than anything, we’re just glad to see it in the flesh. As we expected, the Motorola manufactured device takes many of its design cues from the Moto X 2014 but bigger, courtesy of that 5.9-inch 2560 x 1440 QHD display that some love and some have been dreading. It seems the rumors have been pretty much spot on about the hardware of the Nexus 6 including the Snapdragon 805 processor clocked at 2.7GHz, 3GB RAM and a 3,200mAh. It will sport Android L, which has been announced and confirmed as Lollipop Android 5.0.

Quickly digging through the specs listed through Motorola about the device we find out that they list the battery life as being 24 hours of mixed usage. It is also water resistant and does support Qi Charging. While the Nexus 6 page from Google doesn’t say anything about Qi charging, the Motorola spec page for the device does. It also lets us know there will be a XT1103 model number for the US and a XT1100 model number for the rest of the world. The rear camera is spec’d at  13MP fith f/2.0 aparture, optical stabilation, duel LED flash, and 4X digitl zoom. It also shoots video in 2160p(4k) UHD. The front shooter is 2MP. And yes, it has dual front facing speakers. Should be interesting to see how they sound compared to HTC’s BoomSound speakers.

Motorola states the Nexus 6 will be available for pre-orders starting in late October and be available in November with a starting price tag of $649. You will have the choice of Midnight Blue or Cloud White as well as 32GB or 64GB options.

You can sign-up to stay in the loop about the Nexus 6 through Motorola and hit the devices product page over here. It is also confirmed on the Nexus 6 page that T-Mobile, AT&T, Verizon, Sprint and US Cellular will  all carry the device.
