Google Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones officially announced with Android 7.1

At the Google event that was conducted in San Francisco today, the company has officially announced the two Pixel smartphones. Both smartphones already made their way via online retailers confirming specifications of both the devices ahead of the launch. Google Pixel is the base variant with a 5-inch display, whereas Pixel XL is the larger variant with a 5.5-inch screen size and larger battery capacity. Both these smartphones will compete with the Galaxy S7 duo, Galaxy Note 7, and the Apple iPhone 7.

The Google Pixel sports a 5-inch display and has 2.5D corning Gorilla Glass 4 on top of it. Under the hood, there is 2.15GHz Snapdragon 821 processor with Adreno 530 GPU. The Pixel features a 4GB of RAM and 32/128GB of internal storage. It packs a  2,770mAh battery and also has a fingerprint scanner.

In the imaging department there is 12.3-megapixel rear camera and a 8-megapixel front facing snapper. Google claims that it is the highest-rated smartphone camera anyone has ever made. It scores a  DxOMark Mobile score of 89, The rear-facing camera has f/2.0 aperture and big 1.55 micron pixels to capture ample light.

Connectivity options include 4G LTE,WiFi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, and USB Type-C port. The Pixel runs Android 7.1 Nougat out of the box. The smartphone features the “Google Assistant” feature, making it the first smartphone in the world to come preloaded with it.

Google also introduced the Pixel XL smartphone along with the Pixel. The Google Pixel XL features a 5.5-inch display that has a Corning Gorilla Glass 4 protection. The 2.15GHz Snapdragon 821 processor with Adreno 530 GPU can be seen in the Pixel XL too. It runs Android 7.1 Nougat out of the box. Camera remains the same: a 12.3-megapixel sensor at the rear and an 8-megapixel sensor at the back.

The Pixel XL packs a larger battery of 3450mAh battery. Connectivity options include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi ac/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, and USB Type-C port. Both smartphones will come in Quite Black, Very Silver and Really Blue colours. The Google Pixel costs $649 for the 32GB variant, while the 128GB variant is priced at $749. The Pixel XL costs $769 for the 32GB variant, and the 128GB costs $869.

The pre-order in India wil begin on Flipkart from October 13th. The 32GB variant of the Google Pixel costs INR 57,000 in India, while the 128GB variant of the Google Pixel XL costs INR  76,000 in the country.
