Google releases Android 4.1.2 update to AOSP

The last 12 hours have been pretty informative hours in the Android world. We caught images of an LG Nexus, a Nexus 10 and now of Android Jelly Bean 4.1.2. Coincidentally was the build that we were all-seeing on the LG Nexus. Up until today, the most recent build number of Jelly Bean was 4.1.1. That is what you would find on the Nexus 7 and various versions of the Galaxy Nexus.

Google’s chief engineer Jean-Baptiste Quero just announced that Android 4.1.2 is being released to AOSP, Android Open Source Project. The build number will be JZO54K and the AOSP tag is listed a android-4.1.2_r1.

The updated build is being marked as a minor update.

We’re releasing Android 4.1.2 to AOSP today, which is a minor update
on top of 4.1.1.

As a note to maintainers of community builds running on Nexus 7: please update to 4.1.2 at the first opportunity. Future variants of  the grouper hardware will have a minor change in one of the components  (the power management chip) that will not be compatible with 4.1.1.

The build number is JZO54K, and the tag is android-4.1.2_r1.

Enjoy,
Conley and JBQ

No official changelog has been located, but if Google makes an update, no matter how minor, then it must be important. Those of you that know what you are doing, or those of you that don’t , feel free to pop on over to the usual location for AOSP downloads.
