Google says expect USB Type-C in Android phones and Chromebooks in the future

The next big thing in the world of connectors is going to the USB Type-C spec connector, and Google is making sure that its devices are going to be prepared going forward. The nifty thing about USB Type-C is that it is able to be used for display, transfer of data, or power, all from the one type of port. It is also symmetrical, which will allow you to plug it in without worrying about plugging it in wrong every again. Google has put together a video which delves a bit more into its background and why USB Type-C is good:

You will have noticed that Google Product Manager, Adam Rodriguez, clearly says to expect USB Type-C in Android phones and Chromebooks in the future, something which has most recently been realized today with the release of the Chromebook Pixel 2 which houses two of the ports. While it’s not quite explicitly proclaiming which specific Google devices will come with USB Type-C, you can bet your socks that the next Nexus devices will come with this kind of connection, and from the sounds of it, plenty of other devices will be adopting it soon too.
