Google Search update headed out as Well

Google Search update rolling out
Today is shaping up to be a pretty stellar Wednesday for all us Google users. We all are impatiently waiting on the G+ update to hit our device, or for the APK to start floating around, so we can get all those great new features. Personally I am most excited about the much simpler page switching. So tired of signing in and out to manage 4 pages. In the mix of all of this is an update that is also headed our way for Google Search, Google Now, Google whatever. You know what we mean. Like the G+ update, it is rolling out in stages as well. The update adds in some more wondrous voice searches you can do on mobile and should be able to do right now via desktop. Check em out –

  • Flights: Ask Google “Is my flight on time?” to get info on your upcoming flights and live status on your current flights.

  • Reservations: Ask for “my reservations” to see your dining plans or “my hotel” to get your hotel name and address. With one tap, you can get driving or public transit directions straight there, saving you lots of steps.

  • Purchases: Ask for “my purchases,” and you’ll get the status of your current orders, so you know whether your mom’s birthday present will arrive on time.

  • Plans: Ask Google “What are my plans for tomorrow?” to see a summary of upcoming flights, hotels, restaurant reservations and events—very useful when you’re traveling.

  • Photos: Say “Show me my photos from Thailand” to see the photos you uploaded to Google+. You can also ask for “my photos of sunsets” if you want to show off the shots you’ve taken over the year; Google will try to automatically recognize the type of photo you’re asking for.

Much of this information may already seem familiar to you. It has been part of Google Now for about a year. The difference is now it is part of Search and can be called upon with voice.

As always, if we find ourselves the APK for this one we will be happy to share. After all patience might be a virtue, but it sure isn’t any fun. Keep checking back here and of course checking the Play Store for the Update.  Seems the update is a backend server update and doesn’t need a physical apk update. So you can give it a shot now, but it might not be available for everyone just yet. – Derek Ross

FYI – This is a U.S. update only by the way. Sorry rest of the world.
