Hands-on the 1.9GHz OpenPeak Android tablet

If you’re looking for a 1.9GHz Android tablet, then OpenPeak is the tablet for you. Back in March, OpenPeak announced the tablet and provided some specs for the 7″ tablet. Features of the OpenPeak tablet include:

  • Android OS
  • 1.9GHz Moorestown, Atom-based processor
  • 7-inch multitouch, LED-backlit high-resolution LCD
  • Capacitive touchscreen with 1024 X 600 resolution
  • Wifi 802.11bgn
  • Bluetooth 2.1
  • 3G HSDPA (AT&T)
  • Dual cameras (1080p front-facing, 5MP rear)
  • Multi-user support
  • HDMI output
  • Micro SD
  • 9.0″W x 5.0″H x .59″D
  • 1.15 lbs.

The video below is showing a prototype which has its flaws, but we can see the general idea of this tablet as it is just out of the pre-production phase. The device also features various physical buttons like home, back, menu, etc… This device looks to be an actual competitor to the Apple iPad, but with tablets from Motorola coming to the market soon, as well as the Samsung Galaxy Tab, we’re not quite sure how this device will actually match up.

This is one of the most solid Android devices we’ve seen so hopefully we can start filtering out the junk Android tablets that seem to be ruining the Android name. Keep in mind that this tablet is still in the works so hopefully it will be cleaned up a bit before launch. This tablet offers a great foundation and we’re excited to see what the finished product from OpenPeak looks like.

Is this an Android tablet that you would be interested in?
