Holiday sales are always inflated, Kindle Fire orders cut in half Already

When  a hot new device lands on the market just before the holiday, its sales are usually bloated. Especially when it is a tablet/reader that is a hair under $200. As a consumer, we know that the holidays are the times we max out our credit cards and clean out our savings to give our loved ones something special. After the new year begins, it is back to business as usual and back to being frugal with our money. Amazons Kindle Fire is a prime example of how the fast pasted season can slow to a crawl in just a few short weeks.

According to a part supplier who reported to Digitimes today, the Kindle Fire shipped 6 million units for the holidays and now only have 3 million units on the way out. We know Amazon won’t make a comment of sales numbers of any sorts, so we are stuck with third-party numbers. The drop in sales is something that all manufactures plan for an expect this time of year. Although it is not the best news for Amazon, the tablets are still selling regardless. Those numbers are still expected to decline through the rest of Q1 with shipments estimated to drop to as low as 800,000 per month.

Is the Kindle Fire craze over? Hardly, we still have spring and summer around the corner. Then there of course is the back to school season where millions of parents and student will be picking up gadgets and gizmos for their first day of school.

There have been previous rumors of Amazon working on a 10.1-inch version of the tablet and we have even heard speculation of a Kindle Fire 2 on the horizon. If Amazon does plan to launch another variant or new tablet this year, we don’t expect to see it until the October/ November time frame.

For those of you that already picked one up, what do you think of your purchase? Was it worth the two bills you dropped on it, or are you wishing you would have shelled out a little more and got something else.
