How to update your phone number on your Google account

    Introduction:

Your Google account is like a digital passport to the online world. It’s not only used for email but also grants you access to a wide range of Google services such as Google Drive, YouTube, Google Maps, and more. Ensuring that your account information is up to date is crucial for security and convenience. One key piece of information to keep current is your phone number. This article will guide you through the process of updating your phone number on your Google account.

    Step 1:

Sign in to Your Google Account The first step is to open a web browser and go to the Google homepage (www.google.com). Click the “Sign in” button in the upper right corner, and enter your Google email address and password. If you’ve forgotten your password, use the “Forgot password?” link to recover it.

    Step 2:

Access Your Account Settings Once you’re signed in, click on your profile picture in the upper right corner of the screen. This will open a drop-down menu. Click on “Manage your Google Account.”

    Step 3:

Go to the “Personal info” Section In the Google Account dashboard, locate the “Personal info” tab on the left-hand side and click on it. This will take you to a page where you can manage your personal information.

    Step 4:

Edit Your Phone Number Under the “Contact info” section, you’ll find your current phone number listed. To update it, click on the pencil icon next to your phone number.

    Step 5:

Add or Update Your Phone Number A new window will pop up, allowing you to edit your phone number. You can either add a new phone number or update your existing one. Enter your new phone number in the provided field.

    Step 6:

Verify Your New Phone Number After entering your new phone number, Google will ask you to verify it. You can choose to receive a verification code via text message or a phone call. Select your preferred method and click “Next.” Follow the instructions to enter the code you receive to verify your new number.

    Step 7:

Save Your Changes Once your new phone number is verified, click “Save” to update it on your Google account.

    Step 8:

Review Your Account Security After updating your phone number, take a moment to review your account security settings. Ensure that two-step verification is enabled for an extra layer of security. You can manage this in the “Security” section of your Google Account.

    Conclusion:

Updating your phone number on your Google account is a simple yet crucial step to keep your account information accurate and secure. With your phone number up to date, you can recover your account easily if you ever forget your password or encounter any security issues. Follow these steps, and you’ll have your Google account information in order in no time.
