HTC: Gingerbread OS Should Not Affect Sense UI

Fan of HTC’s Sense UI or not, HTC will be holding their ground even when Google releases Gingerbread. The questions started when the rumors began swirling around the community of Android 3.0’s UI enhancements.

HTC’s design team lead Drew Bamford, in a conversation with Forbes, stated:

“Google, too, has indicated that it wants to make the next (3.0) version of Android more polished and user friendly. Industry observers have speculated that manufacturers like HTC will make fewer alterations on their Android phones as a result. Bamford, however, says he doesn’t expect Google’s tweaks, which are scheduled to debut before the end of the year, to affect his work. “Google may focus more on improving the user interface on the stock Android [software], but I don’t think they’ll preclude manufacturer customization,” he explains.”

It looks like Sense is here to stay whether you like it or not, but I do think they should make some enhancements and that HTC should do what they can to make faster update releases as new firmware is launched. HTC stated that while Gingerbread should not affect them, they are seeking ways to enhance and expand Sense UI to keep up with its surroundings.
