HTC One GE to snag Android 4.3 shortly after Launch

HTC One GE Android 4.3
This new trend of pulling in high-end Android devices with the Google Experience has generated quite a bit of discussion around the community. Especially when it comes to the HTC One and how reliant the hardware tends to be with Sense. Beats Audio was already confirmed to be included in the Google Edition of the device, but there are still a lot of unanswered questions. Another question seems to answered today thanks to the reliable @LlabTooFeR. A very simple tweet was put out this morning that confirms an Android 4.3 update will hit the HTC One GE device a few weeks after it launches on the Play Store. That pegs a July release for the new OS version.

HTC One GE Android 4.3
Thinking back to how disappointed we all were that Google didn’t make a new OS version announcement at I/O is starting make a lot of sense. No pun intended. They announced the Google Edition Samsung Galaxy S4 and shortly after the HTC One GE. Knowing that the community would be somewhat skeptical on how well both these devices would fare when it came to updates. Samsung has been doing a bit better in terms of updating their devices, HTC is still working on it. I personally can’t imagine Google working so closely with both manufacturers to bring these devices out to then turn around and not keep them updated in a timely fashion like the branded Nexus devices. This general thought is exactly why I think Android 4.3 was talked about just yet. Holding the newest version back for a little while to show that both devices will be updated timely. While there isn’t anything about the S4 getting the update after launch, i bet we see it hit in the same week as the Nexus devices and the HTC One GE.
