It is the same old story. First, let’s release an awesome underclocked to the public, and then let’s release the EXACT same phone overclocked to get people more excited. Obviously a lot of our phones are released with a processor that is underclocked. My G2 I had, was released with an 800 MHZ processor and Iwas able to overclock it to 1.7 GHZ. I just love our developers.
The HTC One S was released here in the states with a 1.5 GHZ dual-core S4 Qualcomm chip which ask anyone who has one, they will tell you they are happy with its speed. Well looks like the people in Taiwan are going to be getting the slightly juiced up version of the One S as well as the One X. Both the One S and One X will be rocking an older S3 chip that was used in the HTC Sensation and EVO 3D. You think older, it would be slower and not as good. Well I guess this chip is going to clocked at 1.7 GHZ. So they have decided to use an old chip and crank it up to get those extra MHZ. I am sure there is not much of a difference in overal performance, but it is always nice to mention how fast your phone is to people.
So do you think it is a good idea for the company to use juiced up older chips? Kind of silly if you ask me. Let us know what you think below.
