HTC One S-ness: Android 4.2.1 Baked BlackBean ROM

Finally. We have some Android 4.2 ROMs for our beloved HTC One S. There are some CM10.1 beta builds out there, as well as an unofficial AOKP ROM that you can choose. I decided to go with the Baked BlackBean ROM from Team Baked. Seemed it was time to get baked.

Right off the bat, I noticed the quick response of Android 4.2. Seems it is getting much better. Some would say it is placebo, but why release a new version without making those improvements. Was excited to utilize the lockscreen widgets, which I think is an awesome feature of 4.2. Another feature I fell in love with, was the quick panel toggles that Android realized are very useful. When it comes to what Team Baked has thrown into the mix, I loved the fact that this was a DARK ROM, and had inverted Gapps. I kept it simple when playing with this ROM, and kept it on the stock Trebuchet launcher. Smooth, fast, and responsive. That is what we like to see.

Only real gripes I have is, yes, there is a slight lag when scrolling. There is also a slight “squiggle” that shows up when scrolling, that looks similar to an analog TV with a slightly messed up picture. Camera does not work quite yet, but that just comes with the ROM territory. Camera is never going to work right out of the oven. Other than those, I really liked that ROM. I would say flash it just to get some first hand experience with Android 4.2. Check out my quick video review below, and let us know if you downloaded it.
