Good news for our neighbors up north, if you’re a Mobilicity customer that is. Mobilicity has just announced that they will be the exclusive Canadian carriers for the HTC Panache 4G, which is a variant of the US myTouch 4G/HTC Glacier. Nothing has changed about the device except the name and the fact that it will be launched with Gingerbread preloaded.

You won’t be able to get your hands on a Panache 4G until tomorrow in which case you’ll have to give up $499.99 as it’s being sold off contract. Service options come by way of a $25 (CAD) a month unlimited plan. Check out the full press release and unboxing video below.

Mobilicity announces HTC Panache 4G smartphone

Powerful, new Android delivers superior mobile experience with customizable user interface and remote access features

TORONTO, May 17 /CNW/ – Mobilicity today announced the HTC Panacheâ„¢, a sleek, new 2.3 Androidâ„¢ smartphone that combines speed, style and sophistication for a superior mobile experience.

The Panache is capable of operating at 4G speeds of up to 21mps and can easily be turned into a Wi-Fiâ„¢ hotspot or tethered to a tablet or iPad with Mobilicity’s unlimited data add-on. Mobilicity customers can add unlimited data to any voice plan for only $10 – making it possible to get unlimited talk, text and data for as low as $35 a month.

More flexible and advanced than most smartphones, the Panache packs a host of unique features, based on the HTC Senseâ„¢ user interface, which allows users to:

  • customize the home screen with regularly used software, contacts and apps
  • create different user profiles for business and personal use;
  • juggle multiple email accounts with colour-coding and email filters to keep better track of all their information;
  • stream contacts’ social network status and updates alongside their photos when they call or text; and
  • instantly silence the phone ringer, when required, with a quick flip of the device.

Users can also benefit from being able to manage their mobile phone content from their personal computer. In the event that the phone is lost or stolen, users can remotely lock the phone, forward calls and texts to another phone, and even delete all personal data. The ability to access archived mobile content, including contacts, text messages and call history, is also possible with the Panache.

The Panache features a Qualcomm 1GHz Snapdragon™ processor and a large 3.8-inch touch screen for excellent navigation and an exceptional visual experience. It also provides handy built-in tools, like GPS, Adobe® Flash® Player, HD video recording, a 5 megapixel flash camera, and VGA front-facing video-chat camera to make it easier to capture, create, share and access multimedia content.

Availability
The HTC Panache ($499.99) will be available tomorrow at Mobilicity stores and authorized dealers across Canada and mobilicity.ca. It is exclusive to Mobilicity in Toronto, Vancouver, Edmonton and Calgary. Like all Mobilicity devices, the HTC Panache is not sold with a handset tab, credit check, nor does it come with a contract to lock a customer into a multi-year service plan with expensive cancellation penalties, as is often the case with Canada’s incumbent carriers.
