While we’ve already seen a couple of updates for Verizon’s first LTE phone, the HTC Thunderbolt, it seems that despite adding some much-needed functionality a few other things were broken as well. The most irritating issue is the infamous random reboots plaguing owners, which leaves us wondering when the next update will be rolling out to address this. Thanks to the inquisitive nature of users a HTC rep may have answered this question.
According to this HTC rep, “HTC and Verizon are aware of this issue and an update will be released soon that will address the reboot issue, and bring the Gingerbread 2.3 upgrade on board, as well as several other enhancements.” Although it will most likely be a simple maintenance update, it’s also possible a quick update to Android 2.3.4 could be thrown in as some rumors seem to be stating. Availability for this update is still up in the air however the rep did say “although I don’t have an official release date to provide you, this update will be released soon.” As we’ve seen from Verizon in the past “soon” could be a couple of days or a couple of weeks, let’s hope for the former.
