I am all for openness and cross-platform support. My wife has a Blackberry and absolutely adores it, me on the other hand can’t even use the thing. She never got wrapped up into the BBM aspect of the device, but I do know a lot of people who use it often. Some of which have switched to Android and state that is one of the things they miss most. Not being all that much of a BlackBerry follower my knowledge of BBM is limited to knowing that it is basically a messenger service for BB’s. Which is the same thing a Google Talk, right? If that assumption is correct then I can understand why people love it, I would be lost without my GTalk.
With so much diversity in the world, it is hard make a switch from one platform to another without running into some features or services that you miss. With much of the business class running Blackberries, switching to Android can put you out of the loop on things in a hurry. The images look pretty legit, but we all know how something can be doctored up pretty easily, especially for a skilled programmer. We are going to file these as pure RUMOR until we see something a little more concrete from RIM.
The idea is still interesting though. It would help bridge a gap that many people are in desperate need of crossing. Are there any hard-core BB users out there that switched to Android that would love to see this happen someday?
