The previous rumors that LG would be pushing their next flagship device announcement back to April seem to be pretty spot on now that we have invites for just such an event. It was reported that LG would knock things back a little bit was to let them have their own limelight and not be over shadowed by Samsung and HTC. Compared to the timing of their last flagship announcement, May 27th 2014, this one is coming a month earlier. Their invite is typically cryptic, carrying the tag line “See the Great Feel the Great”
We assume the company will be making the LG G4 official along with pricing and availability details. The event isn’t your typical single location either. LG has them listed for April 28th in New York, London and Paris along with one scheduled for April 29th in Seoul, Singapore and Istanbul. That is a pretty hefty announcement event if you think about it.
Rumors of the next flagship device have suggested that it will be “radically different” with a “metal-mixture” and a design similar to the G Flex 2. I am thinking a curved all metal body and screen. Further details point towards a 2650 x 1440 5.5-inch display, 3GB of RAM, 15-MP rear camera and a 7-MP front shooter. Of course it will also launch with Android 5.1 Lollipop. Or, so the current story goes. Other rumors have also listed the G4 with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor instead of the 810. It could have been a reference device, or a different device all together though.
There has also been talks of LG jumping into the Note style arena, a bit more formally, than in the past with a LG G Note, or something similar, that also packs a stylus. With two events lined up, and mixed rumored spec’s, I am betting we see both devices at the end of April with a quick launch time frame on the same day, or very shortly after.
What do you think the LG G4 will end up sporting officially? The invites style makes me think they could be pulling a bit of a Motorola move and mixing metal with leather somehow. We shall see in just under a month.
