CES is just around the corner my friends. I don’t know about you guys, but I am super excited to see the new underground ridiculous tech toys that could cause my divorce.
One of the newest additions from Samsung is supposed to be unveiled this year. The latest addition looks just like the Galaxy S I9000 and is happily called Galaxy Player (for now). It will sport many of the same specs as its predecessor with the exception of the 3G bands and cell service. That means you will be able to pick up one of these soon without having to worry about a contract.
What this device is suppose to be running:
- Android 2.2 Froyo OS
- 1GHz CPU
- 4-inch Super Clear LCD screen
- WVGA resolution (800×480)
- SoundAlive audio enhancing technology
- Wi-Fi
- Bluetooth 3.0
- 3.2MP rear camera with front facing camera for video calling,
- GPS
- HD video playback
- microSD card slot
- Android Market and Samsung Apps access
Pretty much a Galaxy S i9000. The most recent updated news on this device also puts it having 3 models available: an 8Gb, 16Gb and 32Gb. Although this device won’t officially be a phone, it will support VoIP services such as Skype and Google voice.
It looks really nice to me, I have no doubt this should sell rather well if the price point is overshot. I wouldn’t mind having one of these sitting on my desk at home. I will be on the hunt to find Samsung while I am CES, so stay tuned to get more information on this device and many others in just a few weeks.
Would you buy one of these instead of an iPod if they were priced similarly or even lower? How do you feel about another Samsung device coming out with Froyo while rest of us are still on 2.1?
