Is this the Nexus 5 by LG?

Nexus 5 potential image

First, let me say this is something that should be taken with a heavy grain of salt. The photo above shows a supposed Nexus 5 prototype made by Nexus 4 manufacturer, LG. That is right ladies and gentlemen. The Nexus 5. According to an anonymous and unverified source, this is a prototype Nexus 5 device made by LG at the request of Google. Apparently the search giant has requested a prototype Nexus 5 from various manufacturers for their next Nexus.  Unverfied information by this source, who claims to work for Google, says the device is codenamed “Megalodon” and is expected for an October debut this year.

The rumored specs for this device are as follows:

  • 5.2″ OLED Display with 1920×1080 resolution
  • Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 @ 2.3 GHz
  • 3GB LPDDR3 Ram
  • 16/32/64GB of internal storage
  • 16MP rear camera by OmniVision (4k video recording @30FPS, 1080p video recording @60FPS, Real Time HDR & HDR video recording, optical image stabilization, BSI 2.0)
  • 2.1MP front camera (1080p video recording @30FPS)
  • 3300 mAh Lithium Polymer battery
  • Front positioned stereo speakers
  • Qualcomm RF360 (LTE 150 Mbps & HSPA+)
  • Integrated DVB-T / ATSC-antenna
  • Gesture like controls (navigation, zoom, etc)

As you can see, some of the hardware mentioned isn’t even available yet. With Qualcomm expecting their Snapdragon 800 series processor to be used in mobile device around Q4, this has a high possibility of being a ruse. Most of the specs relate to announcements made at CES this year so again take this with a grain of salt. If this device does turn out to be real will you twait to get a new device or  just go after HTC’s and Samsung’s flagship phones? Let me know in the comments below.
