Don’t go freaking out or anything. Jelly Bean has been out for the
AT&T versions of the
Samsung Galaxy S III for
quite some time now. The real news is the fact that it has taken AT&T over a month to make the update available via an OTA (Over the Air) update. The original update was pushed out via Samsung Kies only. Which required you to download Kies to your PC, plug-in your phone and sit and hope it all worked out. For those of you that don’t read news sites and various blogs, you might have missed it. Kinda dumb saying that now since those people probably aren’t reading this either. Anyways, unless a person keeps up with what is going on, it is highly likely that a majority of users never knew to update. Not to mention a lot of people don’t want to install Kies and some might not even have a PC to do it on.
In true OTA tradition, those of you still sitting on ICS should see your OTA roll through over the next few weeks. You can attempt to prompt for the update through the device settings in about phone. You will get the prompt in the notification area, but you will have to wait till you hit up a solid Wi-Fi connection to download and install it. Hope there aren’t too many of you out there still waiting, but we know there will be some surprised folks that will love the new wonders of Jelly Bean soon.
