Jelly Bean soak test hitting Wi-Fi Motorola XOOM’s, manual file available but not Advised

Motorola was supposed to start rolling out the Jelly Bean soak test to a handful of Wi-Fi Motorola XOOM owners yesterday. Apparently there was a slight hiccup and that test was delayed by just one day. The soak test has begun finally. It will update the XOOM to Jelly Bean build number JRO03D, which is the same build the Nexus 7 received a few weeks ago. As long as all is good in the world, they should start to offer it up to all stock owners in due time. We would think sometime by next week.

For those of you who are sick of waiting though, the guys at AndroidPolice have a nice little link to the file up for you to attempt to manually update your tablet now. It doesn’t come without certain risks and special equipment though. You will need a USB-OTG cable and some special instructions from XDA. Not as easy as placing it on your memory and flashing. It also seems a lot of people having issues even getting it update at all and are seeing apply_patch_space error.

We think you guys might be better off waiting for your favorite developer to fix you up a ROM or just wait till the update is officially available. If you feel like playing though, head over to AP for a little more information and pick up the file.
