You may recall that about 6 months ago, we covered what is arguably one of the sexiest and functional smartwatches to be unveiled, the Kairos Mechanical Smart Watch Hybrid – simply, it combined the longevity of an analog watch with the functionality of a smartwatch. It appears Kairos hasn’t only been working on the Hybrid, today launching a trailer that shows off its latest invention, the Kairos T-Band. Unlike the Hybrid which overlaid its touch display over the analog watch’s face, the T-Band instead replaces your standard watch strap with a smart watch strap, allowing it to perform all manner of smart functions without impeding your use of your watch. Check out the video:
All three models of the T-Band will be running Kairos’ own operating system, Kairos OS, which is compatible with Android, iOS and Windows. Interestingly enough, Kairos doesn’t appear to be selling the band itself as a standalone, instead offering it only with with own analog watches. The prices of the watches varies with construction material, but their cheapest watch, the MSW Metal with T-Band ND will set you back $548 USD (the most expensive watch starts at $1178 USD). Interestingly, getting an upgrade to the T-Band OD will only cost an extra $50, which in the grand scheme of an almost $600 watch seems almost insignificant.
Update: Here is the Indiegogo page for the campaign to get the T-Band funded.
