[Kickstarter] Meet the BERO, the Android inspired full featured robotic Toy

Kickstarter has to be one of the coolest websites around. Even if you aren’t in the market to help a company get off the ground, just visiting the site can bring on the WTF! face, the OMG! face or the I WANT IT! face. It is always fun to see what is floating around and being created. We just go word from some of our friends that there is a Kickstarter for an Android inspired robot called BERO (Be the Robot).

The idea was inspired by our very own Android Bug Droid iconic figure. Michael Trzecieski from Reality Robotics Limited thought it would be amazing to have a fully functional Bluetooth android robot for us Android junkies and lovers to play around with. The BERO is 4-inches tall and is a multi-motor, fully functional robot that does more than just drive around, swing its arms and twist its head. Sure it does all that. With the app you can drive BERO around, move each arm independently, swivel his head back and forth and shake his hips. You can also control the music that is stored on a MicroSD card that you insert into BERO. His Eyes and headphones light up to the beat of the music that he emits from a small speaker located in his chest or he will react to outside sound transmitted through your phone.

It gets better though, BERO also has an optical navigation system (optional) that helps him free roam and not crash into objects. The LEDs are programmable or triggered by sound. Heck BERO will even move, react and read your twitter feed if you want it to.

Reality Robotics designed this little guy to be hackable even, allowing all you great programmers and coders to tweak him out for other uses and needs.

There are a few different backer support levels for you guys to help get involved and get your very own BERO. Each level offers up a variation of the BERO with different functionality. For instance, for $35 you get a BERO basic. All he does is sit, he has no motor or electronics. It is just the shell, but would look cool sitting on your desk. Or you can go for broke and pledge $189 or more for the BERO BLING. The Bling version offers everything, 6 total gearbox motors, 2 LEDs for the headphones, 2 LEDs for the eyes, infrared optical navigation and comes in silver or gold.

As with all Kickstartes, there is a time limit. Reality Robotics goal is $38,900 and they are currently at $30,385 with 16 days left to go. To save you the math, this ends on September 30th at 10:48 a.m. EST.
