The HTC One has been quite a winner in the smartphone world with its stylish looks, innovative UltraPixel camera and apparent durability. It makes sense then that HTC would want to capitalize on the most popular aspect of its flagship phone: its looks.
News has leaked out thanks to PhoneArena that HTC may well be planning to use the One’s styling on a slightly smaller phone codenamed the HTC M4 (for those of you keeping track, the HTC One was codenamed the HTC M7). Compared to the One, the M4 will likely have a frankly tiny 4.3-inch, 720p screen, though again, retaining that sleek aluminium body of its bigger brother.
Other suspected details include:
- Dual-core CPU;
- 2GB RAM;
- 16GB storage;
- 1,700 mAh battery;
- Android 4.2 Jelly Bean
- And that lovely proprietary camera
The leak suggests we’re likely to see this phone around mid-year. This is looking a lot like Samsung’s strategy when they released the Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini after its big brother, so we’ll see how the HTC M4 does in the wild, if it eventuates. I for one, will be interested to see what HTC will name this phone after their current naming schemes; I can only assume the phone will be officially named the HTC One- (a la the HTC One X+).
What do you think of this strategy? Would you get the HTC M4? Let us know your thoughts below.
