Leaked image shows HTC One X+ with T-Mobile branding, but will it ever really be Real

That ever elusive HTC One X+ that we all keep hearing about is poking its head up again with carrier branding. Not that it really matters much right now. We all know the One X+ is or was going to be a quad-core variant of the current One X. Making it nothing extremely special or new, just more cores. Hints put the device on T-Mobiles roadmap as being the HTC Era 42, but that device has since let the roadmap and is no where in sight. Inside sources from TmoNews have been relaying information that the device has been altogether canceled or delayed indefinitely. As you can see, the image above doesn’t offer much of anything other than the T-Mobile branding at the top.

So why would a quad-core device be canceled or delayed before it ever hit the shelves? There are a number of theories in the works, all speculation, but potential reasons. T-Mobile could have never been pleased with its performance during testing and a solution was never created. HTC decided to back out of the device and put their focus into the new Windows phones that are launching with T-Mobile, or maybe T-Mobile just has other devices in the pipeline that would make releasing the One X+ a dumb move. Your guess is as good as mine.

At least we know this much for sure though, the device was going to T-Mobile and they were indeed testing it. Whether or not it ever makes it to consumers hands is a different story. It would have been nice to have a quad-core device on the Magenta network that wasn’t the Note II. Time will tell if this one, or one similar to it, makes its way public or not.
