Lenovo steps up to the plate with 3 new Android Tablets

Android tablets are definitely gaining ground. With more manufacturers stepping up to the plate to offer their take on what a tablet should be. We get more variations and options in choices along with different price points to keep things affordable. The nice thing about tablets is they don’t have to be associated to a carrier. This allows for a larger market if the price is right. As with anything Android though, this also leaves the location of launch, OS version and UI all up to the manufacturer.

Lenovo has officially announced 3 new tablets that they plan to bring to the market. Don’t get getting to excited just yet. They are presumed to be launched in China first over the next couple of months. They didn’t offer up any indicators of dates or prices as of yet. We can only assume that they will come in at a lower price point than most of the big name guys and might find their way to the US at some point.

The company will be launching the 5-inch LePad S2005, 7-inch S2007 and the 10-inch S2010. The only thing that any of them have in common is the Qualcomm dual-core snapdragon S3 processor. Take a look at the rundown below –

LePad S005 features:

  • Android 2.3
  • 5-inch display
  • Dual-core 1.2 GHz Snapdragon S3 processor
  • 1GB memory
  • 5-megapixel rear camera
  • 1.3-megapixel front camera
  • Connectivity to China Unicom’s 4G HSPA+ network

LePad S2007 features

  • Android 3.2
  • 7-inch IPS display (1280×800 resolution)
  • Dual-core 1.5 GHz Snapdragon S3 processor
  • 1GB memory
  • 1.3-megapixel camera
  • 8 hours battery life over WiFi connectivity
  • Connectivity to China Unicom’s “telecom and 3G dual-network.”

LePad S2010 features

  • Android 3.2
  • 10-inch IPS display (1280×800 resolution)
  • Dual-core 1.5 GHz Snapdragon S3 processor
  • 1GB memory
  • 1.3-megapixel camera
  • 11 hours battery life over WiFi connectivity
  • Connectivity to China Unicom’s “telecom and 3G dual-network.”

“Changes in the industry have brought huge innovative opportunities to [the] PC field,” Lenovo Group Chairman and CEO Yang Yuanqing said in a statement. “The PC is no longer just the traditional keyboard and screen, but has extended into tablets, smartphones, smart TV, and other forms.”

If the price point is good on these they should sell pretty well. The don’t have the most fantastic specs, but they are a lot better than most of the crap tablets we see some of the other manufacturers try to sell. In addition to the new tablets, Lenovo is also planning to launch the Lenovo Cloud. Offer the tablet owners 200GB of online cloud storage. Letting you sync and back up your devices and access your files across multiple devices.
