Word on the street is that the Nexus line is ending and that it will be replaced by a new line of devices that will come under the name of Android Silver. LG is one manufacturer who’s name who has been thrown around when talking about Android Silver, but we haven’t had much indication of whether either of these rumours are true. We might have gotten a big hint though from Ken Hong, Communications Director at LG, who has implied that there will be no Nexus 6 and said this regarding whether Google has contacted LG about making a Nexus device this year:
“I know at least not yet. Normally we were informed… That can mean two things. Either I got ignored, or we won’t be making [the Nexus 6]”
While it’s not a straight up “no”, it would be unusual for LG not to know by now whether they are making the next Nexus device. That’s not to say that they still won’t, but the evidence is mounting that Android Silver is going to be the flavour of devices coming from Google from now on.
What do you think about what Ken Hong has had to say about the Nexus 6? Do you think we will see a Nexus 6 before Android Silver comes into play? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
