LG plays the ‘mini’ game with newly announced LG G3 Beat

I am all for diversity in products from manufacturers. It has become pretty standard practice for OEM’s to launch a flagship device and then follow it up with a smaller variant of it. Samsung and Sony do it. LG has now announced the mid-ranged brother of the LG G3 dubbed the LG G3 Beat. (shown on the left in the image below.)

True to fashion, the G3 Beat brings many of the same features to a smaller form factor with the usual downgrade in hardware. The G3 Beat brings along a smaller 5-inch screen at 1280 x 720, a 1.2 GHZ quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor, 1GB of RAM, *GB internal storage, micro SD card slot, removable 2,540mAh battery and launches with Android 4.4.2. The G3 Beat also carries along a smaller 8MP camera with the Laser Auto Focus ability as well.

“Smartphone manufacturers cannot ignore this growing segment of consumers who want the best balance of looks, features, performance and, of course, price,” said Dr. Jong-seok Park, president and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company. “The LG G3 Beat represents our commitment to the mid-tier smartphone market that demands mature technology, proven branding, great innovation and attractive price, all in a single device.”

LG didn’t offer up any details as far as pricing is concerned, but they did toss out some availability dates. The LG G3 Beat will make its debut in South Korea starting July 18th, that is tomorrow, with a global from Europe and Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) countries in the following weeks. It will make appearances in Metallic Black, Silk White and Shine Gold color offerings. Interestingly enough, the name will get a slight change when it does it Europe and be known as the LG G3 s.
