Lost but not entirely forgotten, the T-Mobile Sidekick 4G getting OTA Update

As wonderful as it is to see the T-Mobile Sidekick 4G in the headlines for once, it kills me to get your hopes up. The good news is there is an update on the way for your device. Labeled something crazy as usual, T849UVKJ2, it brings a lot of fixes. Like improved stability, improved performance, fixes purple line on messaging screen and many others. It all sounds great, last year. The bad news, it is not a Gingerbread update. Still just good ole Android 2.2.1. Isn’t that wonderful?!?

I can only hope that T-Mobile drops the Sidekick line like they should have after the last sidekick failure. I have a feeling Samsung won’t jump on board ever again. Luckily the venture didn’t cost them to much of a reputation. I mean seriously, they are very lucky the Galaxy S line of devices took them to top and set them apart from the sidekick mess.

I would love to say, “Don’t give up on this device!”, but honestly I can’t. Please don’t blame T-Mobile, Samsung or Android for the device you purchased. Bide your time like an adult, check out craigslist in the meantime and, if possible, swing into your local T-Mobile store on Saturday and get yourself a real device.
