While Mad Catz maintains the system is still in its prototype stages, the final hardware specs are sounding pretty competitive. The M.O.J.O. is expected to go out with 16GB f internal storage and has a micro SD card slot on the rear. Includes Bluetooth 4.0, two USB ports for wired gamepads, controllers and other accessories, HDMI, Wi-Fi and a headphone jack.
The internal processor isn’t finalized just yet. They are looking towards the Nvidia Tegra 4 at the moment though. Which would give it quite the bump in specs compared to what some of the others are using and could make it something that could lure would be users from the competition. It would also allow the M.O.J.O. to potentially use Nvidia Shield technology to stream their HD PC games to their living rooms.
The M.O.J.O is expected to ship with Mad Catz C.T.R.L.R. Bluetooth controller. Giving you a full on gaming experience controller for your favorite Android games. The M.O.J.O is expected to launch in Q4 of this year, but there isn’t a set date or price tag just yet. I think with the ability to use your current Android titles with no restrictions, the wide range of connectable accessories you can plug-in, the larger storage options and potential plans for a Tegra 4, the M.O.J.O has me a bit more interested then the Ouya.
Our guys are on the ground and will be meeting with Mad Catz at some point, so be sure to keep a look out for some more hands on information about it. I assume that this could also easily replace a Google TV set Top box as well. Giving you gaming access and Netflix and video goodies too. I will have to have the guys check into that.
