Today Microsoft unveiled their next genration gaming console that many thought would be the Xbox 720. Assumptions that they would just double the rotations of the last Xbox I guess seemed like the right answer. Microsoft decided to go a different direction. We now have the Xbox ONE! Where is Peter Chou at?
The Xbox One will be out later this year, with no specific date, and now price tag set. Unlike Sony’s PlayStation 4 keynote, we actually got to see what the console looks like, and they wasted now time showing it off to us. Sexy indeed, and it really resembles the cable set top boxes we have in our homes today. Obviously, Microsoft is trying to not just bring out another gaming console, but an “all-in-one” entertainment center. Google should actually (for once) take notes here.
The Xbox One Dashboard has pretty slick UI. Using voice commands, and Kinect gesture controls, users will be able to navigate through their menus with ease. Saying commands such as “Xbox on” or “Live TV”, you really will have no need to use the controller. Also using the Kinect technology to wave your hand through the different menus gets us closer to that Minority Report era of technology.
Microsoft is also teaming with the NFL to bring die hard fans and gamers to a rich new experience. While watching a live game, your fantasy football stats will update in real time, and you will be able to acess your stats as you watch the game. You can also have quick access to Skype your friends, to do a little bit taunting when your team is kicking some ass. I have a feeling this joint collaboration with the NFL will cause the divorce rate to rise in the US.
Specs of the Xbox One, include  an 8-core CPU, USB 3.0, WiFi direct, Blu-ray, 500GB HDD, HDMI input and output, and 802.11n wireless. They mentioned how Xbox Live will now be running  on over 300,000 servers to bring users the best in online gaming. There will be 15 exclusive games for the One, and they showed off Call of Duty Ghosts in great detail. When I say detail, they really went all out with the graphics.
So now I must ask you guys, which console are you planning on getting? You going to spring for the Xbox One? Or you still got high hopes for the PlayStation 4? Let us know where your gaming life will lead to.
