Minor Update for ASUS Transformer gives Major Functionality

The Asus EEE Transformer is nothing short of an amazing device. Our very own Simon Walker happens to have one and absolutely loves it. He loves it so much that he hasn’t even rooted it yet. That’s saying a lot about a device when a dedicated Android user who roots everything hasn’t even touched it yet. The only issue he was complaining about, about an hour ago actually, was no Netflix support. It was the one thing that was making him consider rooting just for the work around.  Looks like I can deliver him some good news now.

ASUS is releasing a minor update to the tablet that will now allow users to use Netflix. There is still a catch though, it won’t show up in the market so you will need to pick up the APK file yourself and install it via tradition sideloading methods. Not to terrible of a task really and well worth the small amount of effort that would need to be put into it. Sure beats rooting and dealing with all the shenanigans that would have needed to be done.

Keep an eye out for the OTA update to hit your device shortly which should bring you up to 8.6.5.9. In the mean time, feel free to pick up the Netflix APK and have it ready to install.
