For the gadgeteer on the go, the new Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge are devices that might take some careful consideration. Sure, it has Fast Charge abilities and two wireless charging standards built-in, but the lack of a removable battery can still detour end users who use their devices on the go for 16+ hours a day. While not being able to plop a freshly charged spare battery in the device is troublesome for some, that doesn’t mean there aren’t other solutions to keep you juiced up. On the S6 front you will have the option of picking one of the 3,300 mAh battery cases in black, white or gold for $99.95. On the S6 Edge side of things you can snag it in black or white for the same $99.95. The added benefit beyond the on demand power aspect of the Juice Packs is that they add some protection to your expensive device as well as Mophie has engineered each case with internal bumpers to absorb impacts from drops.
One of the cooler aspects to the Mophie Juice Packs is that you can charge it up and leave it be. You won’t be pushing power from the case to the device unless you actually turn it on. Leaving you free to use up that power only if you need to. However, I am fairly certain wrapping your device with the case will make the wireless charging aspect a bit mute. Judging from the images at Mophie, it looks like slipping the case on and off will be rather painless with a removable top piece. Nothing in life is perfect, you still need to pick your battles. Wireless charging is cool, but a little to slow for my tastes and would be more of a convenience thing when I hit the sack at night. A case like this that adds protection to the glass and give me on-demand power is a bit more appealing.
You can order the black variant of the juice pack for the Galaxy S6 today, but it won’t ship out for 10 – 14 days.
