Live image of the upcoming Motorola Moto X (2016) smartphone surfaced back in December that revealed a metal body for the smartphone. Now press images of the Moto X (2016) and the new Droid smartphone that will be heading to Verizon have surfaced. The new images confirm the metal body and also reveals a fingerprint sensor below the display on a rather large looking bezel. There are reports from VentureBeat that Motorola is planning to launch two Moto x flagships this year, each with a different design.
The next bit of information comes in from HelloMotoHK’s Google+ page, going one step ahead and providing us with renders of the new devices, namely the Moto X 2016 and the next-gen Droid 2016.
The front of the Droid 2016 features an oval fingerprint sensor on the bottom. There are also some sort of sensors, or likely neutral capacitive buttons on either side of the fingerprint sensor. Both Moto X models are rumored to feature a 5.5-inch AMOLED displays, but otherwise, their spec sheets read completely differently, according to the person who shared the details. Vector Thin is the decidedly higher-end handset, with a Quad HD resolution to Vertex’s Full HD display, and a slightly lower-clocked version of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820 system-on-chip (2.0GHz quad core) to its sibling’s Snapdragon 625 (an octa core chip reportedly clocked at 2.4GHz instead of the stock 2.0GHz)
The new Moto X series smartphones are expected to go official on June 9th and the Droid Smartphone may be announced as soon as Aug 24. Stay tuned for more details.
