Nanogenerators are a relatively new development in the world of science. Researchers have determined that it’s possible this new technology could eventually replace rechargeable batteries in the future. These micro/nano-systems are capable of producing power through incremental amounts movement, which could anything from wind, rolling tires, or a heartbeat. Such devices have already been used to power things such as LCD screens and transmit radio signals. This break-through, especially to us techies, means advanced mobility for the gadgets that we rely on, and in the future (5 years) it may be possible for our movements to keep them powered up.
It should be noted that when I read this article I thought of the movie “Crank”. Instead of the crazy stunts to keep your heart going, I thought about some guy running around with jumper cables running from his heart to a seemingly dead phone. The humor I found in this I applied to real life, as to imagine talking to a friend when all of a sudden they say “My phone’s dieing, time for a run around the block.” =P
